TAPS running dry have become part of the daily lives of Ongwediva residents, as the town has been experiencing water interruptions for nearly two weeks.

Residents are now advised to store water in containers to ensure they have some water available when the taps are dry.

Town spokesperson Ottillie Shingenge said that they currently don’t know what is causing the interruption.

“Our technical team is working around the clock to ensure that normal, uninterrupted water supply and distribution is restored. Therefore, water will be shut off every day to fill the towers that supply water to different areas in and around town,” she said.

She added that water will be released periodically once the towers are completely filled, so residents are advised to be prepared.

Shingenge explained that the towers don’t receive sufficient water, causing them to deplete quickly and making it hard to meet demand, while the pressure is low when water is pumped from NamWater reservoirs.

She emphasized that the technical team is on the ground, working to identify the cause of the issue, and they will provide further updates once more information is available.
