PREPARATIONS are underway for the 3rd edition of the Oshuungu Annual Soccer Tournament, aimed at bringing together sports enthusiasts.
The tournament is scheduled for December 26 to 28, 2023, with a sponsorship of N$20,000 allocated for hosting the event.
Tournament coordinator Shindambi Hamukwaya, representing the WaBantu Foundation, said that the objective of the tournament is to engage young people constructively in productive community activities that will enhance their skills, social well-being, talent development, and their capacity to be active citizens of Namibia through sports.
“We aim to inspire community members to foster unity and a sense of belonging,” he said.
According to Hamukwaya, the tournament’s winner will receive N$10,000, a floating trophy, and gold medals. The second runner-up will be awarded N$5,500, silver medals, and the third-place winner will receive N$3,500 and bronze medals.
Hamukwaya emphasized that the tournament is open to all and is intended to unite football enthusiasts from all walks of life at one location.
