The Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Evelyn !Nawases-Taeyele, says notable development has taken place at Otjinene since it was declared a village council ten years ago.
Speaking during the 10th-year celebration of the Otjinene village council, !Nawases-Taeyele stressed that despite limited resources, the Otjinene village council managed to provide key services to residents.
The Deputy Minister said affordable housing, portable water provision, and modern business infrastructure are among some of the achievements at Otjinene.
The Chairperson of the Otjinene Village Council, Lesley Kauandara, pointed out that the council has set up a strategic plan aimed at assisting with much-needed development at Otjinene.
Kauandara also pleaded with the inhabitants to timely honour their utility bills, as this also helps with the operations of the council.
The council also renamed some streets after pioneers of Otjinene, while it set up a cornerstone for the welcoming sign board for Otjinene.
