Several areas in the Otjozondjupa Region have received significant rainfall recently, with Outjo being among the most affected.
Videos and photos shared on social media show how the recent rains have revived the rivers in the Outjo District, while also leaving some roads in the town’s vicinity flooded. Road users are advised to exercise caution. Other places in the Otjozondjupa Region have also experienced impressive rainfall recently, including Okahandja, Otjiwarongo, and Grootfontein.
While the Otjozondjupa Region is among the most fortunate in terms of recent rainfall, a few areas beyond the region have also benefited, recording between 20mm and 40mm of rain on Thursday. These include Windhoek in the Khomas Region, Mariental in the Hardap Region, and Koës in the //Kharas Region, among others.
According to the Namibia Meteorological Services, additional heavy showers are expected in the Otjozondjupa, Khomas, and Omaheke regions today, while isolated thundershowers are expected over Kunene, the central northern parts, and the Otjozondjupa Region tomorrow.
