A group of parents of learners at Keetmanshoop’s Mina Sachs Primary School are demanding the reversal of the appointment of the new principal.
The disgruntled parents marched to the ||Kharas Education Directorate office to petition against what they termed ‘an irregular recruitment process’.
They maintained that the appointed principal was not recommended by the school board and that the position should be re-advertised.
Moreover, the protestors requested the education authority consider appointing a principal fluent in Khoekhoegowab at the school attended by learners from a predominantly Khoekhoegowab-speaking community.
The ||Kharas Regional Council Chairperson, Joseph Isaack, also witnessed the petition handover.
Regional Education Director Jesmine Magermann received the petition.
The protestors have given the education authority three weeks to respond to their petition.
