THE Office of the Namibian President has released a statement informing the public that President Hage Geingob has been admitted to a local hospital for a follow-up aortic valve procedure.

This follows the successful preventative minor aortic procedure that President Geingob underwent in South Africa back in June. The decision for the initial procedure was made based on the advice of the president’s medical team, who detected a mild aortic stenosis, which remained asymptomatic.

In the statement regarding the president’s initial heart procedure, the Namibian Presidency emphasized that President Geingob consistently highlights the significance of a healthy lifestyle and early detection for the well-being of Namibians and the country. Additionally, the presidency added, the president will continue to advocate for transparency and accountability in governance, which includes being open about his health-related matters.

According to the Namibian Presidency, President Geingob’s spirits are currently high. His subsequent aortic valve procedure is scheduled for today, 27 July, and the hospital plans to discharge him on Friday, 28 July. He is expected to resume his presidential duties on Wednesday, 2 August.
