President Mbumba preside over official Opening of Parliament

In one of his first official engagements as newly sworn-in President, Dr. Nangolo Mbumba today presided over the official opening of Parliament.

For this, President Mbumba expressed a deep sense of honour in continuing a longstanding practice established since the nation’s independence.

He urged citizens to pick up from where the late President Hage Geingob left off, emphasising the importance of unity and inclusivity for all citizens.

“President Geingob, one of the founders of the Namibian Constitution, played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s modern identity. He is one of the Founders of the Namibian Constitution, having chaired the Constituent Assembly that drafted our Constitution. He served as the first Prime Minister and third President of our Republic. Our country has therefore lost a national icon, a Hero, a committed and dedicated leader who did not only contribute to the building of the modern Namibian nation but also made durable footprints in Namibia, the African.”

As a mark of respect, a minute of silence was observed, honouring the legacy of the late President Hage Geingob, described as a national icon and a dedicated leader.
