Private sector called to support National Internship Programme Policy

Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila has called on the private sector to come on board and support the government’s efforts in developing the National Internship Programme Policy.

She made the call at the Pan-Afrikan Renaissance, the second Young Afrikan Leadership Summit, held in Windhoek on Friday.

“At the last Cabinet meeting, we looked at how we can financially incentivize employers to take on young people for internships. We spend close to US$200 million per year to fund this training of young people, and we have created positions in the establishment where they are deployed. We are calling upon the private sector to support these efforts we are making, as they did with the funding of the constituency youth enterprise.”
