Pupkewitz Automark unveils new showroom

The used car market has expanded with the opening of a brand new Pupkewitz Automark showroom in Windhoek’s Independence Avenue.

The showroom caters for clients looking for good previously owned vehicles that have undergone thorough checks by experts to ensure the highest quality.

Pupkewitz Motors managing director Anton Westraadt, during his opening remarks, commended every staff member for their role in the speedy opening of the showroom.

“What is remarkable is in a short space of time, everyone worked towards making this a reality,” Westraadt says.

Pupkewitz Toyota brand manager Shawapala Kandjabanga said the initial idea was to offer clients who cannot afford a brand new vehicle an opportunity to buy certified pre-owned or demo models with peace of mind, since all vehicles undergo what can be termed a 360-degree inspection.

“We identified a gap in the market, and we feel Namibians can afford more used cars compared to new vehicles because of the prices, so there is a gap for used cars,” he told TopRevs.

And we, as a business, opted to open a new branch to fill that gap, he adds.

The showroom stocks various brands, he noted.

“Automark caters for Toyota and non-Toyota brands on this floor,” said Kandjabanga.

Many people may be hesitant to buy used vehicles, but Kandjabanga said it all depends on the dealer.

Pupkewitz is a certified brand, meaning, before a vehicle is allowed on their floor, it has to go through systems and checks to ensure the client gets a good deal, he noted.

Meanwhile, used vehicle sales consultant Yolande Swart said any client buying a vehicle from them will have peace of mind.

Apart from the eagle eyed tests, the dealers ensure that road worthiness and police clearance are conducted for all vehicles.

This way, a potential client knows the vehicle comes with a clean record and has not been stolen in another country, she said.

Many Namibians looking for the bargain of a lifetime are often scammed, especially when purchasing a car on social media. This is why Pupkewitz insists on the police clearance and road worthiness being conducted on any vehicle leaving the showroom, she added.

This process also assures clients that the vehicle is free from any accidents, which often comes to light after the client gets over that ‘new vehicle feeling’, and upon closer inspection.

“If we get a vehicle with minor scratches and dents, we fix that, so at the end of the day, we make our pre-owned cars look like they are brand new,” said Swart.
