RELIEF from the relentless summer heat is in sight for the North, as scattered rainfall is anticipated in several northern areas starting from Wednesday.
According to the Namibia Meteorological Services, Rundu in the Kavango East Region is among the areas that can expect rain on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Ondangwa was also highlighted as another northern town that can expect rainfall this week, particularly on Thursday and Friday.
Rundu and Ondangwa, however, are not the only places expected to receive rainfall this week. The Namibia Meteorological Services predicted that several northern regions are likely to experience scattered rainfall on Wednesday. This includes the Ohangwena, Oshana, Oshikoto, Kavango, and Zambezi regions.
The anticipated rainfall in the north is expected to provide some relief from the persistent heat that has been affecting the interior parts of the country. However, according to the Namibia Meteorological Services, the interior, including the North, is still expected to be quite hot on Wednesday.
The brunt of Wednesday’s heat will be felt in the Kunene Region, where Khorixas, Sesfontein, and Outjo are expected to record maximum temperatures of 39°C. Omusati Region’s Outapi and Ohangwena Region’s Eenhana can also expect to record maximum temperatures of 39°C on Wednesday.
In contrast to the interior, the coast is expected to be partly cloudy and cool to mild on Wednesday. In this regard, Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, and Henties Bay can expect minimum temperatures of 12°C and maximum temperatures ranging between 18°C and 22°C. At the southern coast, Lüderitz can expect a minimum temperature of 16°C and a maximum temperature of 22°C on Wednesday.
