Rani group extends support to impoverished single mother

THE Rani Group which has been criticized for sourcing its workforce from a labour-hire company of Tsumeb regional councillor Gotty Ndjedjela, has offered direct employment opportunity to an impoverished single mother of seven children. The company has also provided her with children’s clothes and groceries worth N$4 000.

Rani’s management said that it was moved by recent reports and decided to lend a helping hand to Sylvia Shimbamba who is facing financial challenges. Shimbaba, a mother of seven, including seven-month-old twins, had lost hope of finding employment as she dedicated her time to caring for her children.

While the Rani Group has extended a job offer, Shimbaba’s ability to accept remains uncertain due to the lack of childcare support. Despite this, she expressed gratitude to the Rani Group and other Good Samaritans who rallied to support her.

“I very much appreciate the generous assistance given to me. May God bless them all and their families,” said Shimbamba.

Eva Kanhalelo, one of Shimbaba’s neighbours and a significant source of support, highlighted that assistance and promises of support poured in immediately after news reports revealed Shimbaba’s needy state. Notably, even support from as far away as Europe and outreach from the Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare have been initiated to ensure the children receive necessary government support.

People who sent money via cellphone banking include M.Nekomba (N$200), T.S.Peter (N$1 000), S.Jonas (N$100), B.S.Nanasiku (N$150), P.K. Kleophas (N$100) — all from Windhoek — and C.D.Georgio (N$478) from Denmark.
