Roads Authority works tirelessly to upgrade Omaheke roads

The Chief Executive Officer of the Road Authority, Conrad Lutombi, says despite the limited resources at their disposal, they are working tirelessly to ensure that most roads in the Omaheke Region receive much-needed attention.

Gobabis, Aminuis, and Aranos roads are all still under construction, and by December this year, phase one of the road will be officially inaugurated.

The procurement process is being finalised for a 145-kilometre road linking Gobabis and Talismanus in the Otjombinde Constituency before ground work is expected to begin next year.

This and other key regional road developments were revealed by Lutombi at Gobabis.

“We have started with the procurement process of the commencement of Talismanus. We know that the funds that we got and what we wanted in terms of the kilometres of road are long, but we said that while we are engaging the road fund administration and government, at least let’s start with what we have before we go on holiday. We could start with the ground breaking that is for Talismanus, and as part of Talismanus, there is a community at Donkerbos, and we have finalised the proclamation now.”

Lutombi assured residents that, through the government and key partners, the Roads Authority is committed to developing the country in terms of road infrastructure.

He added that the road from Aminuis to Hosea Kutako Shrine at Toasis is fully completed, and the extension from Hugus to Aminuis will be upgraded as part of the plan.

The CEO further added that despite the above-mentioned roads, there are some other ongoing projects in the region, such as road maintenance happening in Epukiro, Otjinene, and other constituencies.
