The facility was constructed at a cost of N$34,644,021.25 and consists of a charge office with three offices, a record room, radio room, kitchenette, 1×2 bedroom house, 2×20 room barracks (twelve rooms for male and eight rooms for female officers), kitchen/dining, staff entertainment area, sewer, water and electrical reticulation lines, drilling of one borehole, and access roads and parking space.

The Police Post is allocated one vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser Single Cab LDV 4×4 valued at N$678,307.55.

Kawana said police facilities are essential as they serve the interests of not only the Namibian people but also those visiting the country.

According to Kawana, the government continues to prioritize infrastructure development for all government offices, ministries, and agencies, and the Namibian Police Force is no exception.

“The construction of the police facility is a clear indication of our government’s commitment to its resolution of ensuring effective and efficient service delivery to the public,” he said.

He added that this police post will bring policing services closer to the people of Zambezi Region and visitors alike.

Furthermore, Kawana indicated that they have high expectations that the Zambezi Police will continue to be organized and focused on accomplishing the basic mission of the Namibian Police Force by embracing a community-based and problem-oriented policing strategy.

Moreover, he said that this project will go a long way towards addressing the prevalent crime of stock theft as the community will be in a position to report the crime to the men and women in uniform posted at Singalamwe Police Post.

He then urged Namibian citizens to support the Namibian Police Force in its quest to prevent and combat crime and to take up the responsibility of assisting the Namibian Police Force in creating a safer environment for all.

Kawana said Namibia must continue to be a beacon of peace, stability, and security on the African continent.
