FRIDAY was a good day for the Namibian police’s drug law enforcement officers and a bad day for drug dealers and consumers, as six individuals were arrested in five separate incidents over the weekend. Their ages range from 23 to 33.
Two men, aged 23 and 25, were arrested at a house on August Nangolo Street in Mondesa, Swakopmund, where they were allegedly found in possession of cannabis and Mandrax with a total value of N$13,290 around 21:00 on Friday.
Another suspect, aged 33, was arrested that same evening at a house on Steven Immanuel Street, also in Mondesa, where he was allegedly found in possession of cannabis valued at N$1,300.
Friday’s nightly police operation in Mondesa also nabbed a 23-year-old suspect at a house on Tangeni Haitembu Street. He was allegedly found in possession of cannabis worth N$46,250.
In the Babylon informal settlement in the Wanaheda policing area of Windhoek, a 30-year-old male suspect was arrested. He is accused of dealing in dependence-producing drugs after he was found with cannabis valued at N$13,750.
Another suspect, aged 26, was arrested in Okombahe. He was allegedly found in possession of cannabis and Mandrax tablets, the value of which has yet to be determined.
