Gospel singer Fransina Haiduwa, also known as Lady Lundy, has revealed how she would be expanding the reach of gospel music locally and beyond.
The singer, who was named best female gospel artist of the year at the recent Omulunga Gospel Music Awards, says: “With a deep passion to uplift and inspire audiences everywhere I go, I plan to connect with diverse listeners and take the gospel genre to new heights.”
Lady Lundy believes musicians should use social media to offer free songs, post updates and join professional groups related to their craft.
She says live-streams have a higher engagement rate than prerecorded content, because viewers can interact with artists in real time.
She says live content often receives priority in social media reaching a larger audience and increasing visibility.
“Digital platforms and social media are important for the future of gospel music, because they help share the message, connect with audiences and build a sense of community,” Lady Lundy says.
She intends to increase her influence by being consistent, creating shareable content, and understanding how to influence her target audiences.
“I intend to collaborate with other artists by identifying the right artists to work with, which will result in increased audience reach. Collaboration with another artist exposes both artists to each other’s fan bases, potentially resulting in new listeners,” she says.
RECOGNITION
Lady Lundy describes winning the Omulunga award as a dream come true.
She says it proves that her recognition and success come from strong self-marketing efforts, rather than the number of years she has been in the field.
“Winning this award is a great encouragement, not only for artists, but also for the many unsung heroes behind the radio mics, promotional concerts and visual artistry.”
She says the award has motivated her to continue spreading the gospel through music in a variety of ways.
“This award can provide a platform to share the gospel with a wider audience.”
Lady Lundy says she plans to acquire videography and editing skills, as these will give her more creative control and the ability to create more engaging and high-quality content.
“To keep my fans up to date, I post on social media every day. Streaming platforms and radio for exposure can help me make connections and build my community by exposing my work to a wider audience,” she says.
