South African Energy analyst Mthunzi Luthuli contends that Eskom is in crisis and urgently requires a sense of stability following the resignation of Eskom board chairperson, Mpho Makwana. Public Enterprises minister Pravin Gordhan said Makwana’s tenure will end this month. He is the shortest serving board chair at Eskom having only served a year. Speaking to Newzroom Afrika, Luthuli further highlighted that Gordhan’s refusal to approve the appointment of a new CEO as a potential factor contributing to the current state of affairs.
