Stock theft suspects arrested at Walvis Bay – News

Police at Walvis Bay have arrested four men aged between 19 and 23 in connection with stock theft at Rooibank on Wednesday.

According to Erongo police spokesperson warrant officer Tuyenikelao Tashiya, the theft occurred between Friday and Monday at an unknown time.

“The suspects unlawfully and intentionally stole the complaint’s bull from the grazing area, slaughtered it and removed the meat from the crime scene, leaving only the intestines behind. The Brahman bull is valued at N$26 000. The whole carcass that was cut into pieces was found,” Tashiya said.

The suspects will appear in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

The community is urged to report cases of stock theft as soon as they have any information and farmers are advised to brand mark their stock within six months of birth for identification purposes.

The public is further urged to refrain from withdrawing stock theft cases, as it wastes police resources and motivates culprits to commit the same crime.

Community members with stock theft related information may contact detective chief inspector Jeffrey Urib from the stock theft investigation subdivision on 081 439 2687 or the head of the crime investigation division, deputy commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, on 081 246 4757.
