MOST parts of the country have not witnessed consistent rainfall since the start of this rainfall season – and there are still no signs that this reality will change soon.

Instead, forecasts suggest that the coastal areas will remain windy, while the interior will remain warm to hot.

According to the Namibia Meteorological Services, fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly winds are expected to dominate over the southern coastal areas on Tuesday. They predict that these windy conditions may occasionally result in dust storms.

The central coast, particularly Walvis Bay, also experienced strong winds and dust storms this past weekend. The Namibia Meteorological Services shared a photo of a road in the vicinity of Walvis Bay covered in sand due to the extreme windy conditions. Road users are therefore advised to be cautious and vigilant during such weather.

Strong winds are, however, not predicted for the central coastal areas on Tuesday. According to the Namibia Meteorological Services, most coastal areas can expect partly cloudy and mild weather, with fog patches on Tuesday. Foggy conditions are expected to persist in Walvis Bay for most of this week.

Meanwhile, the interior parts of the country are expected to be sunny and warm on Tuesday, with the North experiencing particularly hot weather. The highest temperatures are expected in Eenhana, Katima Mulilo, Okaukuejo, Ondangwa, Opuwo, Outapi, and Rundu, which are likely to see maximum temperatures of 38°C on Tuesday.

This marks a slight improvement from last week when several northern places recorded temperatures of up to 40°C. However, temperatures in the North are expected to rise again as the week progresses, with Ondangwa and Rundu predicted to reach 39°C and 40°C, respectively, on Thursday.
