The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security has announced that student permits for the 2024 academic year are open from today to 29 February.
A statement released last Thursday urged foreign students to apply during this time, as no extensions will be provided.
“Application forms can be accessed from the ministry’s website (www.mha.gov.na),” noted the statement.
Application fees are only payable once the application has been approved.
Primary and secondary education permits cost N$1 600 per year, while tertiary education permits cost N$2 200 per year.
“Applications for courses that are less than one year can be submitted anytime, provided that there is an offer from a relevant institution of higher learning. However, foreign students must apply and wait for the outcome while outside Namibia.”
The statement further noted that all applicants must comply with the stipulated requirements.
Furthermore, they are also expected to sign the relevant application forms and provide certified copies of the required documents.
Approval and acknowledgement letters cannot be used at ports of entry as proof of student permits.
Additionally, the ministry also warned students who apply for study permits, but do not attend classes and instead engage in other businesses that those found guilty of such conduct will have appropriate measures taken against them.
