Students at the Frans Dimbare Rural Youth Centre are unhappy with their academic progress due to a lack of equipment.

Run by the Ministry of Sport, Youth, and National Services, the Frans Dimbare Rural Youth Centre offers training to young people out of school in animal husbandry, bricklaying, hospitality, agriculture, plumbing, welding, and ICT.

The students claim that, since 2020, they have been taught theory without practical activities due to a lack of equipment and have had to be sent back home.

Students claim that even if the matter is resolved, they will be forced to start over next year.

The Chief Public Relations Officer in the Ministry of Sport, Youth, and National Service explained that tools for practical training have been delayed because of the procurement requirements.

Aina Shikesho, however, said some have already been delivered to the centre.

The ministry, she said, is also busy with the selection of successful bidders to take over the responsibility of providing food to the centre.
