THE Erongo Police have said that they have arrested a suspect in the case of missing person Robby Michael, whose car was found swept into the ocean in Henties Bay on Sunday.

Inspector Illeni Shapumba, spokesperson of the Erongo Police explained that there was a person of interest who was found with fishrods suspected to be that of the missing man. “We are investigating the manner in which he got hold of them. We are still searching for Robby,” Shapumba said.

According to Shapumba, the discovery of the missing Robby’s car was made on Sunday, 10th September 2023, around 08:45 by a passerby/fisherman who reported that he found a vehicle, a white extended-cab Toyota D4D with registration number N 2426 OM in the seawater at mile 72 camping area about 40 km north of Henties Bay.

There was no one found in the car or seen in the area at the time. The police officers attended to the report, and according to observations, it is suspected that the driver might have parked along the coastal line/sea and relaxed when the high tide unexpectedly took the vehicle into the seawater.

The vehicle had multiple damages, and a tow-in was arranged to remove the vehicle from the water. It is reported that missing Robby, along with his two friends, went to the sea on Saturday, 9th September 2023, for fishing. His friends left him at sea around 18:00, and they came to Henties Bay, where they slept until this morning when they received a report of him missing.
