Award-winning saxophonist Suzy Eises and her band are due to perform at the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) in Windhoek on Saturday at 20h00.
Eises says the show aims to create an immersive musical experience, celebrating the richness of live music and promoting arts education through a music project offering free piano lessons to beginners and music enthusiasts in the community.
“The National Arts Council of Namibia has been a crucial supporter. Recognising the need for a professional setting for my band, the theatre emerged as the ideal venue to create a memorable experience for the audience. ‘Suzy Eises Live’ is a musical event featuring my band, alongside violinist Ronaldo
Kandume and vocalist Natasha Kitavi. It’s a celebration of beautiful music, showcasing a fusion of genres and bringing together diverse talents,” Eises says.
Attendees can expect an eclectic mix of original music and trending covers of songs like ‘Made for Me’ by Muni Long.
“We will also pay tribute to our late president Hage Geingob, who had a profound love for South African jazz. These selections embody the soulful essence we aim to deliver. This show promises an unparalleled experience, uniting music enthusiasts in a celebration of talent and passion. It’s an opportunity to witness the culmination of hard work and dedication, promising an unforgettable night of powerful melodies,” she says.
Eises was a regular performer for the former president and first lady, and she has featured at countless weddings, festivals, parties and corporate events.
She has also shared her story on BBC News, as well as its social media networks.
She received the awards for best newcomer and album of the year at the Namibian Annual Music Awards in 2018 and has performed in Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Angola, the United Arab Emirates, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Italy and Spain.
She studied music at the London College of Creative Media.
Eises says performing live marks a significant step forward in her career.
“With the support of the National Arts Council, we’ve elevated the production value, incorporating diverse talents and genres to create a unique and unforgettable musical journey,” she says.
Eises believes 2024 holds new and exciting opportunities for her career and sound, as well as collaborations to captivate audiences. She is also working on a new album.
“In 2024, I’m excited to collaborate with popular South African musicians and producers, bringing a fresh and dynamic dimension to my music.”
