In a proactive step towards economic development, the Swakopmund Municipality has launched a campaign focused on increasing employment opportunities, particularly for the youth and other vulnerable groups.

Mayor Dina Namubes recently made courtesy visits to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and the Langer Heinrich offices in Swakopmund to foster job creation in the town.

These visits highlighted a significant barrier: many vulnerable individuals lack access to smartphones or other devices, limiting their ability to use job portals and other technology-dependent platforms.

Addressing this, Namubes stressed the need to diversify awareness channels, including the use of public bulletin boards, to make job advertisements more accessible.

This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide among job seekers and reinforce the municipality’s commitment to inclusive employment opportunities.

Namubes conveyed her dedication to developing reliable and practical systems for job seekers, encouraging those facing challenges to maintain hope.

“Those who are facing difficulties should hold onto the vital power of hope that will elevate them above the voices of doubt,” she stated.

She also invited young people to submit their resumes to the municipality’s offices, expressing her appreciation for the ministry’s efforts to tackle high unemployment rates in Swakopmund and across the country.

The mayor’s visits to various institutions and development projects have garnered positive responses.

Namubes assured that the Office of the Mayor will continue engaging with different institutions to address the social and economic challenges confronting the diverse communities in the coastal town.

She was of the opinion that ongoing dialogue and collaboration are essential to the municipality’s strategy to combat unemployment and foster sustainable economic growth.
