The Electoral Commission of Namibia says the preparation for the Guinas Constituency by-election in the Oshikoto Region is on course as per the electoral schedule.
The Corporate Communications and Marketing Manager at ECN De wet Siluka says only two parties will be contesting the Guinas Constituency by-elections slated for 17 January 2025.
The two parties are the Swapo Party and the Landless People’s Movement.
The registration by political parties and prospective independent candidates was held from the 6th of December to the 21st of December, of which only two parties registered.
The vacancy was necessitated by the death of Guinas Constituency Councillor Elias Martinus a month ago.
