THREE men reportedly took their own lives in the Oshana Region during the last four days.
The first incident was reported in Onawa village, in the area of Ongwediva, where 25-year-old Oloho Julius Vathina, originally from the Kunene Region, ended his own life with a wire in his sleeping room. Vathina was employed as a cattle herder.
According to Oshana Community Affairs Officer Warrant Frieda Shikole, in a separate report, Kalumbu Horeb Hafeni, 24, allegedly took his own life by hanging himself with a white electrical cable. Hafeni was a first-year student at IUM Ongwediva and was renting at New Reception in Ongwediva. A suicide note was left behind.
On Sunday, a 43-year-old security officer at Freshco allegedly hung himself from the roof of his room in Uupindi. The family of the deceased has not yet been informed.
However, Shikole indicated that an inquest into the matter has so far been opened.
