TRAFFIC vehicles should be visible to road users and not concealed by shrubs, according to Inspector-General Joseph Shikongo of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol).
Shikongo was responding to questions about what measures are in place to safeguard police officers during times of misfortune.
According to Shikongo, police cars ought to be visible, and he expressed uncertainty about where the idea to hide them originated. When a car passes by, the policemen dart onto the road, putting themselves in danger.
“Our goal is to enforce the law and not punish road users by issuing tickets,” he said.
He added that moving forward, they will come up with a plan on what to do when officers are injured or killed on duty.
