The Namibia Revenue Agency (Namra) last week intercepted a consignment of a Namibian truck allegedly transporting mandrax tablets worth N$1,9 million.
Namra spokesperson Tonateni Shidhudhu said the driver is a frequent traveller across the border.
The driver was apprehended while returning from South Africa and the suspected illegal substances were discovered following scanning by officials, Shidhudhu said.
He added that a further search revealed additional illegal substances in the truck.
“The suspect appeared in Karasburg Magistrate’s Court and the case was postponed to 16 May,” Shidhudhu said.
He urged members of the public to report any suspicious activities that may compromise the safety of communities.
