In an unprecedented move, former United States (US) president Donald Trump has been effectively removed from Colorado’s 2024 presidential ballot following a Colorado Supreme Court decision.
The latest development was confirmed by various international media sources on Tuesday night.
The court has ruled that Trump does not qualify to be a candidate in the race for the presidency due to the US’ 14th Amendment “insurrectionist ban”.
The 14th Amendment prohibits anyone who has engaged in insurrection from running for public office in the US.
The ruling will, however, not be implemented until 4 January, pending Trump’s decision to appeal to the US Supreme Court.
