THE Anti-poaching unit of the Environment Ministry, together with other law enforcement agencies, has arrested two suspected poachers and is tracking four others who are suspected to be moving in the area between Omuthiya and Oshivelo in the Oshikoto Region. This follows after two rhino carcasses were discovered in the Etosha National Park recently. Four rhino horns and firearms were confiscated when two suspects, aged 31 and 44, were arrested on Sunday.

The head of the MET’s anti-poaching unit, Ndahangwapo Kashihakumwa, released a message urging members of the public to join the efforts to trace the four suspects who are currently on the run, whom Kashihakumwa described as “armed and dangerous”. They are suspected to be in the area of Cham Cham and Omutsegonime and are suspected to be looking for an escape route.

Kashihakumwa said that the suspects are on the run and looking for transport to escape the tightening net of the law enforcement agents who are trying to intercept them. He urged motorists not to pick up any male hikers on the B1 road in the area between Omuthiya, Cham Cham, and Omutsegonime.
