Unam gears for educational tour to CT

Students at the University of Namibia (Unam) can participate in a tour being organised by the Students Representative Council (SRC) to Cape Town, South Africa, from 3-8 September.

The Cape Town tour is intended to inspire and empower students under the theme: ‘Excellence through Benchmarking’, says Unam SRC president Pedro Muyo-Yeta.

The necessity of active student participation in observing and learning from institutions in other countries is emphasised by the theme, he says.

Students can get essential insights to improve their academic journeys by measuring many areas of the host country’s universities, including academic programmes, research opportunities, student support services, campus infrastructure, and student involvement activities.

Muyo-Yeta says 120 students will benefit from the tour.

“We are thrilled to offer this opportunity to approximately 120 students, carefully selected from all 12 campuses on a first-come, first-served basis.”

Those who participate in the tour will be part of a knowledge-sharing process, he says.

“Upon their return, they will be in charge of sharing with their fellow students at their respective campuses the invaluable insights and experiences gathered during the tour.”

The tour aims to inspire students to strive for greatness and promote a climate of continual improvement at Unam, he says.

“We are excited for this educational opportunity and the beneficial effects it will have on our university community.”
