The late President Hage Geingob was a key figure in politics and also played a crucial role in shaping the business environment.

nbc News visited various establishments that had set up remembrance tables in memory of him, evoking reflections on his legacy.

These tables were promptly arranged following the news of his passing.

The News team’s first visit was to Maerua Lifestyle Centre, where at Super Spar Maerua, an impressive remembrance table was on display.

This table, featuring the late President’s picture flanked by two flower bouquets, captured the attention of shoppers, offering a moment of quiet reflection amidst the bustling activity.

Home Corp Namibia welcomed visitors with another elegantly crafted remembrance table at its entrance, seamlessly integrated into the store’s decor.

While serving as a showcase piece, the table, adorned with the late president’s image and two phalaenopsis flowers, encouraged customers to pause and contemplate while browsing furniture.

Notably, this remembrance table also featured a picture of a former Home Corp employee, Gregory Samuels, who tragically passed away in a car accident on the same day as the president.

Moving on to Auas Valley Shopping Mall, a portrait of the late Dr. Geingob, accompanied by two candles and a message of condolence, greeted customers, acknowledging his proactive engagement with various industries and leaders to assess the economic landscape.

At Agra Safari Den, visitors encountered the late President’s picture placed at the entrance, illuminated by a camping light and surrounded by a pot of white calla lilies.

In Waltons, the stationery store, the team creatively displayed the president’s picture atop a stack of paper boxes, alongside a flip chart emphasising his unwavering dedication to Namibia’s progress.

Additionally, a remembrance table adorned with red and white rose petals was featured at Pick n Pay, complemented by a poster inviting Namibians to unite in honouring the late president’s memory.

The final stop for the news team was at the Bank Windhoek Lifestyle branch, where a remembrance table for the President was elegantly arranged with four flameless candles among golden leaves.

Whether grand or subtle, each remembrance gesture aimed to unite people in honouring the legacy of a leader who significantly influenced Namibia’s economic development.
