Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) President McHenry Venaani has urged Namibians to choose national leaders based on their competence rather than their tribal affiliations, emphasizing the need for capable individuals to guide the nation toward prosperity.
Venaani made these remarks during a major rally in Opuwo, located in the Kunene region.
The PDM asserts that Namibia can only progress if voters select leaders with a proven track record. Venaani emphasized that voting for leaders solely because they belong to the same tribe or village compromises the quality of leadership.
“Even here in Kaoko in Kunene, when you vote for a leader, do not choose based on tribal identity. Don’t vote for me, Venaani, just because I come from your tribe or speak your language. That is a misguided way to select a national leader. A leader should be chosen based on competency, experience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to lead. Let us not prioritize tribal loyalty over quality.”
He further reminded voters that the time for change is now, encouraging them to make their voices heard by voting wisely and demanding a better future for themselves and future generations.
Venaani conveyed a message of hope to Namibians and presented a vision for a stronger, better, and more united nation. He stated that the PDM has practical, analytical, and tangible solutions to develop Namibia into a country where all citizens can thrive.
“The PDM has been unwavering in its support for the people of this country. We are the party that has consistently called out the government for its failure to address youth unemployment, a crisis that threatens the future of our young people. The PDM was the first political force to demand that youth unemployment be declared a state of emergency.”
He also extended his gratitude to all Namibians in the diaspora, the security cluster, and everyone who participated in the special voting for the party.
At the event, the PDM welcomed 140 new members.
