SWAPO Party Youth League (SPYL) Secretary Ephraim Nekongo has demanded the mother body to consider the youth for high-profile positions of leadership.
Nekongo made the demand during the SPYL central committee meeting held at Ongwediva in the Oshana Region on Friday.
According to Nekongo, during the Congress last year, they made resolutions which the SPYL was to tackle to ensure youth involvement in the country, one of which was to ensure that young people are included in leadership.
“We are not asking to be a wheelbarrow but fairly be considered into leadership. The women’s council did it, why not the youth,” he said.
He added that young people of Namibia should be given an opportunity to sit at the high table of leadership.
Nekongo said that they want to be members of parliament; they want to be in ministries, and that can only happen if they are given the opportunity, saying that they have proven themselves and are capable and able to be leaders of note.
