RAINY and windy conditions are expected in a number of places in the interior parts of the country this weekend.
This is according to Namibia Meteorological Services’ predictions, which indicate that several places from the North to the South will likely receive rain this weekend. These places, as per these predictions, include Rundu in the Kavango East, Ondangwa in the Oshana Region, Windhoek in the Khomas Region, and Keetmanshoop in the //Kharas Region.
Several places, particularly in the North, have already received light rainfall during the week. This includes places such as Kavango West’s Alex Muranda, which recorded 0.5 millimetres (mm) of rain between Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by another 6.9mm of rain between Thursday and Friday morning.
A number of other places also received rain between Thursday and Friday. This includes Nkurenkuru in the Kavango West Region, Oshakati in the Oshana Region, Okalongo in the Omusati Region, and Omaruru in the Erongo Region, which recorded 0.2mm, 0.8mm, 0.5mm, and 1.3mm of rain respectively during this period.
According to Namibia Meteorological Services, the rain showers expected this weekend are anticipated to be more widespread than those of the week, affecting several northern and southern areas.
However, the North’s rain showers will likely be accompanied by hot weather, while the South’s rain showers are expected to come with cool conditions this weekend. The rain showers in the South are also expected to progress into heavy storms by Sunday.
