A 30-YEAR-OLD woman was allegedly raped by a sub-headman while urinating, following a social gathering at Ekamba village in the Oshikoto Region.
Oshikoto Community Policing Sub-division Chief Inspector Ellen Nehale-Kangulu said that the incident occurred on Thursday evening in the Oniipa Constituency.
According to Nehale-Kangulu, it is alleged that the suspect and the victim were together socializing at the location when the suspect started touching the victim’s breasts, promising to buy her Tassenberg.
However, the suspect later allegedly left the location and went to ambush the victim.
“The suspect approached the victim from behind while she was urinating, pushed her, and kicked her several times before pulling off her underwear and raping her,” she said.
Nehale-Kangulu said that the victim then rushed home and reported the matter to her boyfriend, stating that she was assaulted by the suspect. She was taken to the hospital that same night.
However, she did not reveal the rape to the doctor or her boyfriend because she was scared of her boyfriend.
She reported the matter to the police on Sunday.
Nehale-Kangulu indicated that the suspect, a Namibian man and second in charge to the headman, has not yet been arrested pending the investigation.
