Minister of Education Arts and Culture Anna Nghipondoka, has urged young people to believe in the uniqueness and achievability of their dreams, no matter how grand or unconventional they may be.
She said the world has been shaped by those who dared to dream the impossible and worked tirelessly to turn those dreams into reality.
She remarked this during the launch of the 2024 MTC Teen Inspirational Summit last week in Windhoek, slated for 30 March 2024, under the theme, “Be Your Own Hero’’.
The summit she said, will be a platform for self-expression, creativity and the celebration of individuality.
“Embrace the challenges, learn from failures, and let every obstacle become a stepping stone towards your dreams. We aim to engage, stimulate, and encourage you through inspirational speeches and talent displays, showcasing the incredible abilities and potential that lies within this room and beyond,” she said.
The Minister further stressed that the summit will not just be an event, but a celebration of resilience, courage, and the unyielding spirit that resides within each one of them.
In addition, she highlighted that in a world brimming with challenges and uncertainties, being a teenager can often seem and feel like standing at the foot of an insurmountable mountain.
Despite this, she encouraged that although the journey ahead might seem treacherous, the peaks too high, and the dreams too distant.
She explained that it is for this reason, they recognize the need to motivate and inspire young people to pursue those dreams, no matter how impossible they may seem.
“Believe in yourself, for you have the potential to be your own hero. Furthermore, the MTC Inspirational Teen Summit will be a testament to the collective efforts of the adults and the youth, the private sector and the government, and together, we can create a future where every teenager dares to pursue their dreams, no matter how impossible they may seem, “she urged.
Meanwhile, she noted that the Summit is driven to inspire, instil confidence, self-value, and guide children, and make them believe that they can be whoever they want to be, just like the likes of Christine Mboma and many other inspirational people in Namibia.
Thereby noting that as a country, there is a need for inclusivity, and if there are seminars for adults, she believes that there should also be seminars designed for teenagers, to ensure that no one is left out.
