Zambian president Hakainde Hichilema has declared two days of national mourning for Namibian president Hage Geingob.
Zambia will observe Saturday, 24 February and Sunday, 25 February, Geingob’s day of memorial and burial respectively.
The Zambian president has also declared that all flags in the country should fly half-mast from Wednesday to Sunday, according to the Zambian National Broadcasting Corporation.
Secretary to the Zambian Cabinet Patrick Kangwa told the country’s national broadcaster that during this period, the country will be mourning with the Namibian people.
In 2021, Geingob declared seven days of national mourning in honour of Zambia’s founding president Kenneth David Kaunda.
